The Body Max Supplements team have managed to get their hands on the New High 5 Zero X’treme Hydration tablets.

For those of you who havnt heard of these or seen these even, we got the opportunity to trial them for ourselves. The High 5 Zero X’treme tablets are an upgraded version of the current Zero Hydration tablets.

So Whats changed? They contain caffeine. So you can stay hydrated and full of energy at the same time.

The hydration salts come in a handy tube that keeps moisture out, fits into a pocket and can be taken anywhere. One tube of High 5 Zero salts containing 20 tablets makes a huge 10 litres of drink per 500ml or 15 litres per 750ml.They are light in flavour and on the stomach and the High 5 Zero X’treme is currently available in Berry.

Well enough about that, lets see what we thought of them.

Tested during 1 hour of intense cardio workout and high resistance training.

The High 5 Zero X’treme certainly do come up to the mark. Obviously we get the hydration from the drink but once in your system you certainly get the caffeine kick roughly 10 mins after swigging back some of the drink. The edge the drink gives is certainly noticeable in comparison to its predecessor the normal High 5 Zero salts. We still love and i think always will the Uncut High 5 Zero hydration salts but if you wanting a slight boost in energy then the High 5 Zero X’treme is a strong candidate amongst the big boys.

Energy Drinks – But Which One?

Ever wondered what the difference between Isotonic, Hypertonic or Hypotonic drinks are?

Isotonic Drinks: An isotonic drink is a energy drink that is designed to quickly replace the fluids which are lost by sweating. They usually contain minerals and salts and they also provide a boost of carbohydrates.

The body prefers to use glucose as its source of energy. Sometimes it is better to consume isotonic drinks where the carbohydrate source is a concentrated form of glucose.

Containing more sugar than hypotonic drinks (around 6g per 100ml) isotonic drinks bridge the gap between fluid and fuel. These drinks are ideally suited to longer workouts or matches where carbohydrate and fluid replacement are necessary to avoid a drop off in performance.

The best time to drink hypertonic drinks though is after exercise as they help your body to top up on muscle glycogen stores. These are your valuable energy stores.

Containing 10g of carbohydrate per 100ml, hypertonic drinks are excellent for refuelling after exercise but the presence of so much carbohydrate can mean that water absorption is delayed.

What we think at Body Max

These New Build Bars from Science in Sport are marvellous. Not only do they pack a massive 20g per 55g bar they taste very great indeed. Very Soft chewy and not like usual protein bars. They are by no means dry or have that awful grainy like consistancy. They are very well developed and come in chocolate peanut flavour.
